MARCH 11, 2015 – Swampscott, MA. – The Swampscott School District is excited to announce a novel fundraiser program called “LIGHT UP SWAMPSCOTT!”: a joint effort between the School District and local businesses to raise funds and purchase a new high powered digital projector for the High School auditorium. Sponsors include the Swampscott Education Foundation, UNO Pizzeria & Grill, Eastern Bank, CCS Presentation Systems New England, and Salem Five Credit Union.

When opened in 2007, the new Swampscott High School was one of the most technologically advanced high school buildings in the Commonwealth. Since that time it has not only served as a top-notch educational facility, but also has been the focal point for numerous student and community wide gatherings. The auditorium, in particular, has served as the venue for a wide range of student group activities in addition to numerous community meetings, performances, and forums. A key component of the auditorium equipment, the high end video projector, is now in need of replacement after thousands of hours of use. The purchase of a new state-of-the-art digital Hitachi projector will enhance image quality on the large projector screen and increase reliability. This will ensure many more years of community usage and help enable greater student and school staff productivity.

When the local business community learned that the auditorium projector was not functioning properly, and had not been for quite some time, they rallied together and really wanted to help. It was through this need that the idea for a unique fundraising program, “LIGHT UP SWAMPSCOTT!”, was born. The effort has several components including direct monetary donations and a 9 week fundraiser at the Swampscott UNO. UNO is donating 20% of all ticketed receipts toward this cause and hopes the final amount over the 9 weeks is over $5,000. The Swampscott Education Foundation, in its continued partnership with the Swampscott schools has pledged to donate up to $10,000 toward the purchase of the projector. In addition, Eastern Bank is donating $5,000 and Salem Five Credit Union $500. As another proud sponsor, CCS Presentation Systems New England has agreed to supply the Hitachi projector at a significantly discounted price of $16,607. They are also including longer term support for the School District by providing a 1 year on-site warranty valued at $1,595 and an additional projector bulb valued at $660.

UNO Pizzeria & Grill on Paradise Road will be hosting “LIGHT UP SWAMPSCOTT!” from March 23, 2015, through May 25, 2015. Guests will be able to support the purchase of the new projector by having 20 percent of their total bill donated directly to this cause by presenting a fundraiser ticket to their server during this time period. Parents, students, local businesses and members of the Swampscott community are asked to consider UNO Pizzeria & Grill of Swampscott their restaurant of choice from March 23-May 25 to help support the purchase of this projector. “LIGHT UP SWAMPSCOTT!” Fundraiser tickets are available on the Swampscott Public Schools website, Swampscott High School, under “Community Flyers and Information” and the UNO Pizzeria & Grill Swampscott Facebook page, Uno Swampscott Facebook. “LIGHT UP SWAMPSCOTT!” fundraiser tickets are valid for use in the restaurant and bar, as well as for take-out, delivery and event or business catering. Fundraiser tickets may be printed or shown to your server on your smartphone.

Once final donation amounts from UNO have been fully calculated, the Swampscott School District and the corporate sponsors involved plan to have a Celebration Event to celebrate the installation of the new projector. The entire Swampscott community will be invited to celebrate. The dates and details of this event will be released at a later date.
